Bak Kut Teh is a herbal soup dish popular in Penang. It used a variety of herbs to cook such as Codonopsis root, steamed glutinous rehmannia, licorice root, ligusticum wallichii, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed.
Then add some meat into the soup, traditionally using pork ribs but now some people like to cook with chicken or variety of vegetable like Chinese mushroom, bean curd skin, bean curd etc. It is depend on your own taste.
This soup dish is easy to cook, you may get the Bak Kut Teh or Chic Kut Teh (for Chicken) herbal pack at traditional Chinese herbal shop or at local product shop.
