Yum Cha (tea session) and eating Dim Sum are originated from the Cantonese in southern China. In Penang there are many traditional Dim Sum restaurants. De Tai Tong Cafe is one of the famous Dim Sum restaurants which have been there for more than 60 years.
Tai Tong is still preserving the traditional way of serving dim sum with the traditional pushing carts. Besides that, Tai Tong is providing a very good job opportunity for elders where most of the serving staffs are elderly women, which is an additional uniqueness of the restaurant.
